Dressed in Light explores the transition between the body and the object, and the boundaries that separate them.
The project begins with elements from Anh’s intimate wardrobe: lace, hair clips, jewellery. Usually worn on the body, these elements are displaced into the field of design. A hair clip becomes a structural element, a pair of tights becomes a lampshade that filters and softens the light, and so on.
Each lamp is designed in dialogue with Anh. The body and the object are conceived as a duo and photographed together, using the same materials, like two versions of the same portrait. One is alive, the other luminous, or perhaps the other way around.
The project also seeks to create a transition between disciplines that are often kept separate. Fashion, photography and design meet and respond to one another, creating a hybrid space where clothing can become an object, an object can become a portrait, and the body can in turn be viewed as a sculpture.
