Dilan, please introduce yourself:

I am Dilan Vural ma architectural design, rebuilding and conversion (tum), co-founder of timb, hunter, hiker, gourmet, my parents' favourite child.

#1 What was your first job?

the first job i gave myself was as an artist. i painted and sold the paintings.

#2 One subject you would like to learn more about.

#3 What do you collect?

i collect a number of things. collecting is a hobby. i end up being interested in something, start collecting it, then the things start to find me and when i find that it's enough i collect something new. at the moment it's pistachio shells. 

i think while doing. and when i do "nothing" i think about the things i can save myself from doing.

#4 What is your favorite type of stationery?

i live with a sketchbook that offers me 100 g/qm blanco sheets of paper from hahnemühle in din a 5 landscape format when i want to express something.

#5 Are you more of a thinker or a doer?

i think while doing. and when i do "nothing" i think about the things i can save myself from doing.

#6 What is your last Google search?

italiener davidwache hamburg (it´s cuneo, it´s good, try it!)

#7 What non-existent job do you wish existed?

a needtranslator - someone who is really well connected to all stakeholders and parties and knows whats really needed right here, right now.

#8 What motivates you the most?

when cooking, the timing of salting must be chosen wisely.

#9 What project are you working on right now?

i work on timb. timb is an instance - an interdisciplinary collective (a small coreteam of architects, including me) in cooperation with experts and future-friends of other disciplines. we are able to identify crucial needs that are deferential with nature and translate them into an architectural expression. timb was founded in 2018 together with florian tobschall.

#10 What advice would you give people studying architecture?

listen to everyone - everyone has something important to say. don't listen too closely - not everyone knows what they are saying.

#11 What is your favourite aspect of your job?

to create what´s really needed in an aesthetic shape.

#12 What is your favourite colour combination?

khaki, black and yellow.

#13 Why do you like being an architect in 3 words?

it chose me.

#14 When you are not working, how do you spend your time?

i think about what work I could save myself from doing.
